It would still be a long time before we would be seeing Intel’s Tiger Lake-U processors in sleek and slim laptops, it won’t be until 2020 that these processors would hit the CPU market. However, this hasn’t stopped the rumor mills of the computer processing world to spread leaks of configuration and speculations concerning these 10nm chips.
The newest leak points at the fact that these next-generation Tiger Lake-U processors might be compatible with LPDDR5 memory. According to @KOMACI_ENSAKA who recently shared an EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) notification which was registered on October 18 on twitter which showed the usage of LPDDR5 and LPDDR5 memory (RAM) by Intel’s Tiger Lake-U processors.
This is the icing on the cake for sleek, thin and lights laptop enthusiasts all over the world, specifically for those who are on the wait until next year to upgrade their laptops. The LPDDR5’s data transfer max out at an enormous rate of 6400 Mbps which is an impressive improvement over the LPDDR4’s 3200 Mbps and LPDDR4X’s 4266 Mbps. The enhancements don’t end here, Intel asserts that the LPDDR5 is supposed to consume less power, up to 30% less than the power consumed by the LPDDR4X and to top that, it also has “Deep Sleep” power-saving mode.
These features are responsible for making the Intel Tiger Lake-U chips perfect for powering the next generation of sleek, slim and light laptops. To start with, these devices are assumed to offer arguably longer battery life than all the prior generations.
This isn’t all that we know about Tiger Lake-U processors so far. Last month a bootleg was shared by @instLatX64 which showcased the speculations of the Tiger Lake-U. This leak showed that Tiger Lake-U sported four cores, eight threads for hyperthreading, a boost clock of 3.4GHz and a base clock of 1.0GHz, which a massive leap over the Intel Ice Lake.
Apart from all this, the 10nm Ice Lake-U is anticipated to sport Generation 12 graphics which is on top of the benchmarks we’ve seen pointing that these processors are gonna give the Ryzen 7 3700U and the Core i7-8665U one good competition.
